Yoga Therapy

Yoga or Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is an integrative approach to healing that brings about a change in the attitude and quality of a person's life.  Utilizing the various tools of yoga in a therapeutic way, Yoga Therapy brings healing to different physical, mental, and emotional conditions.  If you are looking for someone to help you on your path to healing who listens, takes time with you to understand what is going on--on all the many levels: physical, energetic, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc.--then you've come to the right place.

Yoga Therapy is complementary to all other healing modalities,--offering you an opportunity to reduce your stress and allow your mind and body to open itself to the healing process.  Like Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy helps a healthy person maintain their health or otherwise, helps a person to return to health. JJ will work with you to address areas of concern in the body such as joint pain, range of motion, better posture, muscle pain, and more.  You will leave with a practice consisting of gentle movements combining yoga, and breath (sometimes meditation or more). Please let JJ know your interest in meditation or other "deeper" work of yoga such as mindfulness, mantra, mudras, etc.

While Yoga Therapy does not treat pathological conditions it is a proven method of intervention for many chronic conditions include: auto-immune issues, issues related to metabolic syndrome (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight, etc.), as well as many structural issues (back, neck, shoulder, hips, knees, etc.) . Yoga Therapy is a self-empowering process, giving you the tools to help yourself, so it does require active participation in order to experience the healing benefits.

As your Yoga Therapist, JJ creates a safe judgement-free zone of encouragement, designs an individualized plan, and makes adjustments of the plan as you progress on your healing path.  Yoga Therapy is often used in conjunction with the tools of Ayurveda and herbal medicine, as well as all Western modalities of healing.  JJ will work with your current physical therapist, or other healthcare practitioner so that you receive the best recommendations for your healing path.
